Due to Caruur's extensive fleet, good planning is necessary

Caruur Car & Truck Rental is a family business with two branches in Ghent. The company specialises in the rental and operational leasing of cars, minibuses, refrigerated vehicles, and vans, with a clear focus on the B2B market. Caruur stands out for its personal service, but also for the flexibility the company can offer by working with multiple suppliers and banks.  

In mid-2021, Caruur switched to ProPlanner software in order to maintain an overview of the vehicles in short- and long-term rental. With a short-term fleet of approximately 450 vehicles and a long-term fleet of 700 vehicles, a clear planning tool and an accurate dashboard are necessary. 

According to Hans Deconinck, Managing Director of Caruur Car & Truck Rental: 

“At Caruur, we worked for years with our own programmed software, but we noticed that new developments were needed to prepare us for the future. For instance, our former fleet management system was not suitable for direct rental via smartphone and tablet. We ultimately chose ProPlanner for the flexibility of its many integration options, but also for its numerous functionalities, such as extensive reporting and processing of fines. 
 
The switch to ProPlanner went very smoothly, but we had also prepared for this very well internally. I also appointed two colleagues who steered the migration and implementation.  

At Caruur, we still have many plans for expansion with ProPlanner. For instance, three additional branches were added following a takeover at the end of October. We also wish to further explore the options for direct rental.  However, it’s not our intention to switch to fully automated rental. We pride ourselves on our personal service, but we are convinced that we can attract more new customers through further automation.”
